STORIES OF THE
KINDERTRANSPORT
|
In October
2000, we reported that Dagda's
track Barbarian from their Celtic
Trance album was to feature in the trailer of
the new Warner Bros documentary film INTO THE ARMS OF
STRANGERS: STORIES OF THE KINDERTRANSPORT. The film won
the Oscar for Best Documentary Feature at the 2001 Academy
Award ceremonies.
FILM SYNOPSIS
For nine months before
the outbreak of World War II, Britain conducted an extraordinary
rescue mission, unmatched by any other country at the
time. It opened its doors to over 10,000 endangered children,
ninety percent of them Jewish, from Germany, Austria and
Czechoslovakia.
This is the
first Academy Award nomination for the film's producer
Deborah Oppenheimer. Co-producer Mark Jonathan Harris
was a previous nominee and winner with THE REDWOODS (Documentary
- Short Subject) in 1967
