BORDERS
Borders® Review: The modern fascination with Celtic
music shows no signs of subsiding any time soon. DAGDA
is a collaboration between Reg Keating and Phillip O'Reilly,
and is a silky blending of traditional sounds with Deep
Forest-like contemporary melodies.
Description: Dagda: Dav McNamara, Sharon
Murphy, Denise Douglas (vocals); Bill Fleming (spoken
vocals); Roddy Monks (whistle); Phillip O'Reilly (keyboards,
programming); Reg Keating (keyboards).
Excellent!!
Excellent!! I was in a store and heard this wonderful
sound, a haunting melody, a moody atmosphere. I went up
to the salesclerk and asked about it. They only had a
demo, so I couldn't buy it then. But, I went home, got
on-line, and got it from borders.com. If you like Celtic
music, you'll love it. The voices help transport you to
an earlier time...many, many years ago. You might think
Merlin or a Druid priest might come through the mists
towards you

Deeply rooted in the culture and craft of the ancient
Celts, this ambient exploration weaves haunting melodies
into a lush backdrop of strings and rhythm. Fans of Enigma
or Deep Forest will likely find this an intriguing listen.

Ethereal and Celtic Catchy beat and ethereal rhythms
with a Celtic texture lace this album. Those who like
New Age expressions will like this music. Celtic purists
may not. I found this album moving and capturing. Much
in the same tradition as album MYTHOS, which I found excellent.
Not Celtic
enough I listen to a lot of Irish/Celtic music and
had hopes for this CD, but I was very disappointed. It's
contemporary/rock and has no Celtic flavor at all. A listener
looking for actual Celtic jigs and reels is far better
off with Altan, Dervish, or Deanta. a

RATED: 10 by RLG on July 19, 1999 This is a wonderful
CD...I like all of the songs they are very powerful and
moving. The sound is modern yet has that flare of the
past...if you are an Enya fan you will love this CD.

Irish influenced music has never been realized such wide
spread mainstream popularity as it does today. Clearly
sitting on top of this wave of popularity comes Celtic
Trance, a release direct from Ireland compliments of the
production team of Red Keating and Phillip O'Rely, collectively
known as Dagda. This compelling release presents a synergy
of Celtic melodies draped over a lush backdrop of strings
driven by subtle pulsating bass rhythms. While not fitting
snugly into any clear cut genre definition, Celtic Trance
contains similar enchanting characteristics as releases
by Enigma or Deep Forest. Musical Categories:POP INT'L

Celtic Trance
Ancient celtic trance music from Dagda, originally
from Ireland, they had to go to America to get their deal.
Very much an ambient techno LP, based on celtic melodies.
Ambient trance always a little New Age, but in this case
no bad thing.
