
Brendan Moriarty
Singer
and musician of unique character and distinction, Brendan
Moriarty's voice, once heard, is always remembered.
Renowned as a collector of traditional Irish songs and
airs, he has been singing and playing button accordion
and harmonica since 1975. His recording debut was in
1987 with Kerry 3-piece traditional band Caragh Dew.
After the break up of the band, Brendan made 3 solo
albums. Most successful of these was Songs of Kerry
- a collection of his native songs and traditional airs.
The Mason's Apron is included on Brendan's most
recent album entitled The Bogman's Pipe which
is part of THE CELTS
series on the Owl record label. The Old Woman from
Wexford, another of Brendan's traditional songs
is included on the compilation Celtic Rock which
is also part the THE CELTS series.
At present, Brendan is based in his native Kerry in
the South West of Ireland where he continues his solo
career with frequent guest appearances at festivals
and Celtic music sessions.
